New member Rick Milham gave his classification speech at the evening meeting of February 2, 2016. A classification speech is an opportunity for a Rotary member to talk about their personal and professional interests, their community service, and how these interests and experiences relate to their Rotary membership.

Rick has been married for 25 years. He attended Kings College where he met his wife. They have two children; their son is a sophomore in college and his daughter is a senior at Plumstead Christian School. Rick has been on the board at Plumstead Christian School for 15 years and is currently the Chairman.

As can be expected, Rick, the son of long time member Dick Milham, grew up in insurance. In 1976 Rick’s father established the Milham Companies’ Insurance Agency. His dad was the insurance agent and his mom was the bookkeeper. Rick was not expecting to go into insurance but after he graduated from Kings College with his business administration degree, he found himself working with his father.  Rick literally worked next to his dad for the first year, sitting at the next desk and joining him for all his business meetings. He developed accounts in those first years that still do business with him today. Rick has now been in insurance for 25 years.

Rick is an avid cyclist. He is a member of a local club and races 4 to 5 times per year. He recently retired from soccer and is coaching his old team. He believes in giving back and investing in the community. Rick decided to join Rotary now that his father is stepping back.  He resisted for 25 years but now feels it is time to step up to the plate. Rick, welcome to the club!
