Maasai water wells
Thanks to the generosity of a member of the Bucks County Community
(who wishes to remain anonymous) we will be able to help the Maasai of
Kenya build two more wells. The donor of $30,000, gave the gift, in
conjunction with her family, to commemorate her 50th birthday and in
recognition of her and her family's good fortune. Matching Funds of
$30,000 will enable us to build two new wells. This will make a total of
five wells emanating from Rotary gifts and grants and publicity about
Rotary work with the Maasai. The publicity resulted in gifts of $30,000
each from three citizens of Bucks County.
The wells will be
drilled in (1), Naironde, a community of about 500 people and over three
thousand livestock of goats, sheep, cows and donkeys (2).Ereteti
Village which has a school of 400 children who depend on roof water that
is not sufficient throughout the year. Government geologists have
already designated where the two wells should be drilled. We anticipate a
September-October date for completion of the wells.
We will keep you posted.
