SERGEANT-AT-ARMS
Ian Forbes serving as Sergeant-at-Arms:


Ian Forbes fined Matt Taylor and suggested we use the applause meter for the best reason why Matt choose to wear pink check tie today. 1. The tie was on sale 2. It was a gift 3. Georgette was away. The applause meter went off the Richter scale for number 3 and we were right.

    
Ian fined Norris Brown, Brian Radford, Ron Kozub and George Fitzpatrick for all the year they have belonged to the club they should have found some one who can sing O' Canada.


Ian fined Jim Hopper for the obvious, leading us into one of the worst recitation of the Anthem. Jim was also fined for encouraging gambling at the Rotary Gala. Jim did offer to split the pot but Ian refused and took it all. It was noted that at a gambling emporium the house (Rotary) always receives a percentage. 


George Fitzpatrick paid a happy dollar and thanked the Gala Committee, Julio and Jean for all their hard work and a wonder full time had by all at the Gala.


Don Hetherington wanted to know if Matt's tie was from Kmart. 


Peter Snodgrass was happy it was the first time his wife Lucy played poker an even with no experience she was still able to win a vacation trip at the Gala.


Ron Kozub was happy and proud his wife received a gold metal for the over 50 category and his granddaughter also was awarded gold for the peewee category at the Provincial Archery Competition.


Jean Holbert Leighton was happy the Club Roma hall, look so elegant and thanked Cathy and the committee for their hard work for making it such a stylish event.

  
Jim Howes was happy to go to Palm Springs and visit with his brother.


Bob McKay was Happy to follow in Matt's footsteps he sold his Dental Practice which is relocating to Ridgeway Plaza . Bob also thanked Laetitia de Witt for her help with the sale.


Paul Massuet was happy announce that on May 10th1957 he arrived in Canada and reminded Ian that he wore a peach shirt a few week ago.
Keith Shaver is happy the Tax season is over for this year.


John Toavers  was happy to drive from Florida stop and visited Savannah , Charleston and Williamsburg. To his surprise he also saw the Queen was also visiting Williamsburg.


Paul Monaghan was happy to be a member of St. Catharine South Rotary Club the Diamond Gala was an event to be proud of.


ANNOUNCEMENTS


Diamond Gala info:   Julio Batres thanked everyone for their hard work it looked great. This year Gale we had about 50 more item for the auction an received about $15,190.00 in the silent and live auction. Some auction items have not been picked up or paid for theses bidder must be contacted.   


Bingo Greg McDonald announced Shelia Bristo and Matt Taylor volunteer to help John Teibert on May 12th. John still need's another volunteer. New members, this is a fun and easy make up. The Next Bingo is June 2nd.


International Rotary Bike Trek Join us for a spectacular ride along the Niagara Parkway from Niagara-on-the-lake to Niagara Falls and back. Registration tent located at the Kinsmen Hall parking near the corner of King & Mary 8:00 am to 9:30am. Entry Fees: individual $15.00, Family $25.00. Half the money raised will come back to our club. Paul Massuet will collect payment for pledges and entry fees no later than June 08, 07. Please make the cheques out to St. Catharines South Rotary Club. Pleas email Paul Massuet if you plan to attend.


Club Picnic Paul and Mimi Massuet will once again host a picnic for our club members on June 10th, 2006 . Volunteers are needed.


Smiles for Life Campaign During the month of May Dr. Thomas Pekar is  offering the complete whitening procedure for $275.00 a savings of $90. Your cheque will be made payable to The Rotary Club of St. Catharines to support numerous charitable causes serving St. Catharines and the Niagara Peninsula . A Charitable donation receipt will be issued to you by mail.


District 7090 Conference: Matt Taylor, George Fitzpatrick and Dan Toparri attended Saturday and Laetitia de Witt and Bob Mckay on Sunday. Our club received 5 awards Literacy, Lighthouse, Presidential Citation, Attendance and The Champion Award for Cathy Henry's efforts for starting the club's new program the Cardiac Cauterization lab.
 
BIRTHDAYS
 
We did not have any birthdays to celebrate this week so we did not get to sing again.
50/50 DRAW
Rich Cavers
had the winning ticket, and received a blessing from Bob McKay but still did not pick the Queen of Spades.
