Lake Orion Rotary was originally founded in the 1930's.  For many decades the club experienced success in reaching its goal of providing service to the community, country and world through its association with Rotary International.  Several years ago, due to declining membership, the club was dissolved and the remaining members affiliated with nearby Rotary Clubs.

It is time for Lake Orion to again have its own club.  The Lake Orion Sunrise Rotary Club held its organizational meeting on October 4, 2006.  Approximately 15 Rotarians and guests were in attendance.  At that time the club was awarded provisional status to operate as a Rotary Club thereby providing attendance credit to visiting Rotarians.  The club reached the required twenty members it was awarded its charter with Rotary International.  In December the club moved its venue to CJ's Village CafĂ©, a full service restaurant located in the center of town that provided a private room for the breakfast meetings. The club continued to meet at CJ's until the restaurant's sale to Johnny Black's Lake House in 2021.

Though many businesses and organizations, including Rotary Clubs, struggled through the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic, the Lake Orion Rotary Club has proven our persistence and adapted our meetings to add the flexibility of remote presence through Zoom. After several months of rotating visits to local restaurants, we started 2022 with a new home at the Lake Orion United Methodist Church Community Center (room 120).

Membership and membership interest is steadily growing.  The club's initial focus is toward community service working in collaboration with its sponsoring club in Oxford, the Lake Orion High School, the Chamber of Commerce, international humanitarian efforts, and addressing individual requests for assistance.  As membership grows specific areas for service will be identified.
