Three notable local Rotarians, Brenda Kell-Kotwa, Terry Kotwa, and Barbara Mitges, along with former Town of Lincoln mayor Bill Hodgson were recently honoured as Paul Harris Fellows by the Rotary Club of Lincoln. The award named for Rotary founder, Paul Harris, recognizes individuals whose community contributions are significant.
“It was a wonderful evening of celebration at Honsberger Estate Winery on April 30,” said Sue Foster, President. “Bringing the community together in the name of Rotary’s motto Service Above Self provided for an outpouring of heartfelt tributes and gratitude for four very deserving individuals.
For more than a decade, Brenda Kell-Kotwa and Terry Kotwa have been integral to Lincoln Rotary’s well-being. Through their leadership with many club projects and programs, each has exemplified the dedication to service for which Rotary is known. Similarly, Barbara Mitges has made a difference in every aspect of the work of the club always giving of her time and talent to enable success. All three Rotarians are mainstays of the annual Lamplighter Tour, Lincoln Rotary’s signature theatrical production that brings local history to life.
As a political leader over twenty-five years, Bill Hodgson’s record of public service is unsurpassed. Hodgson represented the Town of Lincoln in his roles as school board trustee and chair, mayor and regional councillor, with exceptional honour, fortitude and consistency. As a community leader, he is lauded and respected well beyond Niagara for his dedication to preserving agricultural lands while enabling the viability of farming and food production.
