PATHWAYS TO OPPORTUNITY CO-OPERATIVE EDUCATION EMPLOYER RECOGNITION AWARD
This unique award was initiated in 2006 by the Rotary Club of Lincoln in partnership with Beamsville District Secondary School (BDSS) and Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. Its purpose is to celebrate Town of Lincoln businesses or not-for-profit organizations that demonstrate outstanding support for the BDSS Co-operative Education Program. The award evolved from Lincoln Rotary’s commitment to VOCATIONAL SERVICE – to provide the community links necessary for secondary school students to find “Pathways to Opportunity” through meaningful experiences that will help lead them to suitable education and work opportunities upon graduation.
Play and Collect , an online retail business serving customers around the world, was selected as the 2017 award recipient. Its products include a wide variety of games, puzzles and collectibles in multiple formats sourced globally and distributed from its warehouse located in Beamsville. This is where co-op students are employed to support the packaging of some 400 online orders per day, assist with storage of the substantial product inventory, and tend to the general upkeep of the facility. Students are integral to the demands of this modern business. playandcollect.com
