Interact  is Rotary International's service club for young people ages 14 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting.

Club membership varies greatly. Clubs can be single gender or mixed, large or small. They can draw from the student body of a single school or from two or more schools in the same community.

A Rotaract is a club for adults ages 18-30 that meets twice a month to exchange ideas, plan activities and projects, and socialize. While Rotary clubs serve as sponsors, Rotaract clubs decide how to organize and run their club and what projects and activities to carry out.

The Jr. RYLA Committee is pleased to return to in-person programming after two years of successful virtual SLAPSHOT programming. Our program facilitators are excited to work with youth from across the district to connect with like-minded individuals and develop their leadership skills. Participants can expect engaging sessions with skilled facilitators where they will develop heightened self-awareness, problem-solving skills and a leadership mindset to create meaningful change in their schools and communities.

What is Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA)?

  • Leadership training for young adults (19-25 years) led by a professional facilitator experienced in youth leadership development and supported by RYLA graduates and Rotarians;

  • 4 virtual sessions consisting of 1.5 hours each.  Two will be pre-sessions (occurring before the retreat) and two will be post-sessions (occurring post retreat).

  • One weekend residential program at a facility to be provided  consisting of lectures, simulation games, discussion groups, committee work, public speaking, social activities;

  • An opportunity to learn, grow, share ideas, have fun and make new friends.

Are you interested in learning a new language or meeting new people? Rotary Youth Exchange is the opportunity of a lifetime for the more than 8,000 students who participate each year. By sharing your own culture and embracing a new one, you help foster global understanding—and learn a great deal about yourself and your home country in the process.

Youth Exchange is a study-abroad opportunity for young people who spend anywhere from a few weeks to a full year as an international student hosted by local Rotary clubs.

Exchanges are for people ages 15–19 who:

  • Have demonstrated leadership in their school and community

  • Are flexible and willing to try new things

  • Are open to cultural differences

  • Can serve as an ambassador for their own country
