Guest Speaker: Sadie Kennedy
 
Sadie is a Grade 10 student at Great Lakes Christian High School in Beamsville. While excelling academically, she is a competitive gymnast, serves on the student council where very recently she was elected as Vice President Finance, and volunteers regularly for school and community service projects.
 
Gayle Lucas-Roth enthusiastically introduced and welcomed Sadie who provided a splendid presentation about her experience at District 7090 SLAPSHOT, a virtual youth leadership development program that took place as a series of 1.5 hour daily Zoom sessions May 2-8.

 
Sadie highlighted session topics where she gained valuable insights…
 
“Critical Thinking” - how to think about ideas, concepts and problems from different perspectives
“Preventing Bias” - allows new ways of thinking about things ultimately leading to good solutions;
“How to Support People” - how to be a servant-leader as compared to a “bossy leader”
“Connection before Content” - enabling people to connect through purposeful conversation in preparation for tackling a task or problem as a group.
