MIKE RODRIGUES

It was a delight to hear Mike Rodrigues' Classification talk.
Mike was born in Simcoe, Ontario and grew up in Turkey Point where his father owned and operated a bar. Portuguese is his first language. He attended Holy Trinity High School in Simcoe. During summers, while growing up he worked in the tobacco fields in the area. He went to Brock University and studied Finance. After graduation he joined Edward Jones Investments and moved to Cochrane, Alberta. Two years later he came to Niagara and during that time knocked on 10,000 doors trying to make contacts. It was in Niagara Falls there that he came to know committed Rotarian John whom he admired. John manages a 140 million dollar portfoliio for Edward Jones, and is Mike's mentor. In March Mike moved to Beamsville to the Edward Jones office. He and his brother own a home and they live there and rent out their basement.
His financial advice : Save as much as you can. Include a rental property . Pay yourself first.
When asked how he would try to attract younger members, he said he was going to be vocal to others about Rotary and focus on the benefit of self development.
