Meet FRANK ADAMSON, GOVERNOR 2020-21, Rotary District 7090

Frank has been a cub, a scout, an army cadet and a junior forest ranger. He has been a psychiatric attendant, an ambulance attendant and paramedic. He rose through the ranks to be a supervisor, training officer, assistant manager and ultimately Chief of Niagara Emergency Medical Services. As an educator he has been a college professor and program coordinator at Niagara College and a lecturer in the Paramedic Program at the Ontario College of Health and Technology. Frank was awarded the Governor General's EMS Exemplary Services medal for his contribution to the advancement of the profession and extensive community volunteerism.
He has been a health planner and Chair of the Niagara District Health Council where he headed a Task Force, which recommended $45 million for hospital redevelopment in Niagara. As a Hospital Administrator he served as V.P. of Planning and Professional Services at the Welland Hospital where he assisted the board of trustees and senior management in developing a vision, mission, strategic plan and annual goals.
As a fundraiser he has served as a board member, Campaign Chair and Board Chair with the United Way of South Niagara, and Executive Director of the United Way of Cambridge, Ontario, where he helped to grow the campaign by 25% in one year.
He is a certified personal trainer and owner/operator of Kwik Fit Niagara and co-owner of Kwik Fit Kingston.
Prior to joining the Rotary Club of Fonthill 8 years ago, Frank was a member of the Rotary Club of Welland. At the district level Frank has been a member of the Million Dollar Dinner Committee, Assistant Governor of Area 7, Chair of the The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Endowment Fund Committee, and a faculty member of the Rotary Leadership Institute. He and Judy are major donors, TRF Bequest Society members. Frank is a Paul Harris Society Member.
He has been active in leadership roles on numerous community, provincial and national boards and is presently a board member of Wellspring Niagara Cancer Support Foundation. He chaired the Tour du Lac Committee, which established a cycling ride around Lake Ontario to raise $250,000 for Wellspring’s Capital Campaign. Tour du Lac was supported by Rotary Clubs on both sides of the border including several in District 7090 as well as Kingston, ON & Webster, NY.
Frank and his wife, Judy, a retired psychiatric nurse, have 2 daughters - Amy who lives in Warwick, England and Carrie in Pullman, Washington State and one grandson, Evan.
In 2019, Frank was celebrated as CITIZEN OF THE YEAR by the Kinsmen Club of Fonthill & District.
