CLASSIFICATION TALKS
 
OLUF LAURIDSON       
 
Oluf was born in northern Denmark. He immigrated to Mount Forest in June 1957 when he was nine years old. He was always interested in sports, especially badminton  which is the national sport in Denmark. His badminton training partner asked him if he would like to try tennis. Oluf  thought it was an elitist sport, but he agreed to try tennis on a court in a fairground. Unexpectedly, he won two out of three games, and fell in love with tennis. In time he placed 9th in the province and 21st in Canada. 
 
He began teaching tennis and found it satisfying and motivating. In 1970 while he was head pro in St. Catherines, he met Penny who would become his wife.  He worked at Canadian Tire and was ablt to get a leave of absence to teach tennis in the summers. 
In 1978 he worked full time at Niagara Regional Racket Club.  In 1980 he was certified by Tennis Canada
In 1993 he joined the All Canadian Tennis Academy in Toronto. 
In 1994 he moved to Beamsville , and both he and Penny traveled to their places of work.  
In 1997 he joined the staff at the Niagara Tennis Academy. In 2008 until his retirement in 2015 he worked at White Oaks. 
Over the years of his careeer he worked as both coach and administrator and met many incredible people. 
Michael Han asked Oluf:" What does an old tennis pro do with his time? " So Oluf asked himself how he might give back? He is looking forward to his Rotary connections. 
 
Michael Hahn  noted with pride that Beamsville now has 2 tennis courts. He attrbutes this  to Oluf's interactions with the powers that be in the town.
 
DAVID FISK      
David prepared his second classification talk with a power point presentation. His first was in 1996 as he joined the Guelph Wellington Club. At the time his wife  Liz belonged to the Trillium Rotary Club. 
David has had a career in sales, but in his retirement wants to give back to the community. .  
David and his wife have  three sons. Two sons and two grandchildren and a grand dog live in Guelph. One son and two grandchildren live in the UK,  David's wife Liz belongs to Grimsby Rotary. +Together they have a large network. 
 
David was born in Niagara Falls  and lived there until  he was 18. He studied engineering at Waterloo for two years and then moved to Brock where he studied chemistry,graduating with a degree in Bio Chemistry. He began a post grad MBA degree, but left that to work for Hewlitt Packard.
 
He lived in Guelph for 30 years, moving to the Grimsby Marina  when he and Liz retired. Flying his plane is a major obsession. He has a commercial license. He also has a boat. He and Liz are avid downhill skiers. . 
 
In his work he had lots of different experiences and showed us a photo of mining industry equipment.

He now wants to give back to the community and has therefore joined the Lincoln Rotary Club. 
 
Sue told us that Dave has already volunteered in our bicycle rodeo held this spring his part in the bicycle rodeo was pumping tires. Another skill to add to his resume.
