Labyrinth Dedication at Rotary Common

Saturday was a gorgeous day for the Labyrinth dedication.
In October of 2009 it was officially decided that the Labyrinth and Reflection Garden was to be created in Rotary Common. One year later, On October 9, 2010, 100 or more people turned out to see the completed project.
Yvonne Dunetz, Chair of the Reflection Garden and Labyrinth Committee, lead the dedication program, which included music and many words of thanks and encouragement . Past President, Sy Mahfuz represented our Club and President, Alla Vatalaro spoke on behalf of the West Club. "This was truly a successful example of a public-private partnership," according to Mayor Donnalee Lozeau, and a "perfect example of citizens building social capital," stated Chris Williams, President of the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce.
Yvonne said the mission of the Labyrinth committee was to create an interactive commissioned art walk and garden that will bring a message of beauty, hope, love, health and peace to all residents in the greater Nashua area. She said a project such as this is especially critical during difficult times because the labyrinth and reflection garden will be a natural source of stress reduction that will be free and open to all.
As a stone sculptor, Marty Kermeen says he "specialize in the creation and installation of complex designs, including labyrinths. My mission is to create superior works of art in a variety of paving and landscape materials that withstand the tests of time. It is my belief that hand sculpting enhances the individual character of the rock and leaves the imprint of the stonecutter's soul. I am passionate about my daily quest to leave a unique mark on this planet for the benefit of all, now and for generations to come."
