Tim Neverett Red Sox Announcer

On January 23rd, Nashua native Tim Neverett, Red Sox Radio play by play announcer, addressed the Rotary Club of Nashua regarding his journey to reaching his dream of becoming a sports announcer. Tim got his start here in Nashua, playing ball at Holman Stadium. Spent a lot of time playing various sports at Holman, and watched the Nashua Pirates and Nashua Dodgers.
Going to Emerson College at the time, got to fill in announcing at Holman for Nashua Pirates, thru Frank Teas Sr. at WSMN Radio.
Tim’s College baseball coach used to say “Not a single one of you are going to make the big leagues, unless it’s as an announcer.” It was a prophesy.
Tim announced that summer at Holman, and caught the bug. Interviewed with Milwaukee Brewers and Boston Celtics, and then the Pittsburg Pirates. Told the interviewers at Pirates “It’s my turn, that's why you should hire me,” and that's why they hired me.
Did seven years of radio and TV with the Pirates, then came to the Red Sox last year.
One of the first things he had to do was the Red Sox Winterfest at Foxwoods with some of the Red Sox greats from 1986, and then again last week.
Told stories of spring training, the ins and outs of broadcasting, working with Joe Castiglione, the rigors of the travel and game schedule, the Red Sox team make up and hopes for this season, Big Papi’s farewell tour, his home in Boston, the changes coming to the game, and more.
Tim likes radio broadcasting more than television because “It’s like painting a picture.”
Tim predicted Boston at the World Champion for the upcoming year.
