Symphony NH

Marc has vast experience in the music world. He worked with American Voices since 2011, where he managed cultural programs for the US Department of State and coordinated performing arts and education programs in the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia.  Previously he was Vice President for Education and Community Partnerships with the St. Louis Symphony and the Founder and Manager of Community Engagement for the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida.  Marc has been on faculty at Washington University, St. Louis University, and the Community Music School of Webster University and earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the Eastman School of Music.

 

Marc noted that Symphony NH was founded in 1923 and ‘is a gem to be treasured and cared for.” Symphony NH will be celebrating its 100th anniversary soon. The organization is active in 5 cities in Southern NH. SNH’s programs include a series of first-class orchestral concerts each season in Nashua with concerts around the state, chamber music concerts, the Picture This Educational Program for third graders, and the fourth grade String Program. They educate 5,000 students per year, complementing music education done in local schools. Musical excellence is the first priority for SNH and they focus on the highest quality performances. Marc noted that you do not need to go to Boston or beyond to hear great music.

 

A new initiative is Link UP by Carnegie Hall, teaming up with 5 different school districts around Plymouth to be sure arts are a part of a well-rounded education. Additionally, they are working with the Adult Learning Center in Nashua to provide resources for the immigrant population here in Nashua.

 

This year they are visiting nursing homes, bringing music to those who can no longer attend performances in person.  There is also a series of free concerts being planned around Nashua; one location being Riverwalk Café and Music Bar located downtown.

 

NH Council on the Arts reports that $115 million annually in economic activity and impact comes from the arts.

 

Marc invited everyone to attend the Holiday Pops Concert on December 10 and 11 at the Keefe Center for the Arts. As business people, he asked Rotarians to consider sponsoring a concert or a guest artist.
