On August 21st, Dick Ober from the NH Charitable Foundation, addressed the Rotary Club of Nashua regarding significant challenges in NH to help our young succeed. Dick explained the significance to NH of the NH Charitable Foundation, how this organization manages over $40,000,000 in grants and scholarships in over 1,800 funds.
Dick explained the significant challenges in NH, and their new 10 year $100,000,000 endeavor to increase opportunity to all New Hampshire children in an effort to help our young succeed. The major issues facing NH in his estimation is the aging of the State through loss of our young through migration out of the State, poverty in the state, and the high rates of drinking and drug use that are happening with our children. Dick went on to discuss how they are funding prevention programs, treatment programs and long term recovery programs targeting specific ones that are most effective. Dick also discussed creating a pipeline of talented young people to fill the needs of businesses in the State, by providing education opportunities for our youth. Finally, Dick answered questions from the audience.
