On March 20th, Peter Lally from the Nashua Center for the Arts, addressed the Rotary Club of Nashua regarding Spectacle, an organization he started about 10 years ago that helps manage municipally owned facilities in Lowell, Nashua and Laconia. Spectacle also helps produce events/contracts events with touring artists. Spectacle assists with ticketing, marketing, booking, event staff, and more. The Nashua Center for the Arts opened on April 15th.
- The Nashua Center for the Arts is an amazing facility and has been a significant process to get off the ground in conjunction with the City Planning Committee
- The Center for the Arts has lots of flexibility in design, ranging from a traditional theater layout, but can be reconfigured to have general admission/standing shows or cabaret seating
- This allows the Center to host a wide range of events, not just traditional theater
- The seating capacity if 750, with the orchestra taken out it can hold up to 1000 people
- The spaces for dressing rooms/lobby/3rd floor event space/roof deck etc. are amazing to help support the events for the Center and help make the space unique
- The proximity the Center has to the downtown restaurants, parking, shopping, etc. is also a great feature for patrons
- Nashua should be proud of all the efforts it took to create the Center, as it is a goal for many other cities to have this type of venue.
- There are a number of performances already scheduled, and efforts are being made to present a large variety of performance types.
- The venue can be rented out, and offers a variety of concessions.
- Acoustic design was a big consideration in the planning and construction of the facility.
