On September 9th, Marty Helman, Rotary Foundation Trustee, addressed the Rotary Club of Nashua regarding, the Rotary's definition of positive peace and how Rotary is taking steps to achieve that with The Rotary Peace Centers. Through mental health, peace amongst families, the absence of war, and a community at peace, only then there can be a nation at peace.
At the turn of the millennium, Rotary embarked on The Rotary Peace Center Program which offers a tailor-made curriculum to train individuals devoted to peacebuilding and conflict resolution. Applicants are chosen to partake in a program which is a two-year Masters program in 5 different universities. The second program is a Graduate Certificate program which is a non-degree graduate program. This program is a one year, mostly independent study, offered at many universities across the country. These programs are tuition free for the students. Costs are paid through the Rotary endowment where 10% is used for the Rotary Peace Center Program.   Marty ended the program with talking about some of the graduates around the world and how they are contributing to bringing peace to the world. The Rotary Peace Fellows, now 1900 strong, are doing the tangible work that needs to be done to keep peace sustainable.
