Make It Labs

Make It Labs was founded in 2010 and was originally intended to be a for-profit venture.  It was not long before the 15 member organization out grew its space, reformed as a non-profit, and moved in to 6,000 square feet of space at 29 Crown Street in Nashua.  The organization grew steadily and now has approximately 115 members.  There are no paid staff – all work is done on a 100% volunteer basis.  Some of the equipment and tools available to members include: a kiln (for glass and ceramics), welding equipment, 3D printers, metal shop, CC laser cutter, CC plasma cutter, and a full wood shop.  The organization relies on donations for equipment, attracts new members at Open Houses held every Thursday evening, offers two levels of membership, and is active in the community supporting youth training and other programs such as First Robotics.

 

Make It Labs is currently in the process of moving to a new location, two doors down from its current location but much easier for the public to find.  Its new location at 25 Crown Street is 20,000 square feet.  Members are in the process of doing extensive renovations to the space with the long-term goal of using all of the first floor and eventually renovating the second floor for co-working space for its members.    The organization hopes to take advantage of the CDFA (Community Development Finance Authority) Tax Credit program to help fund the conversion of second floor space to co-working space.

 

It is likely that Make It Labs will transition to full fledge business incubator sometime in the future.
