HUDSON – Kyra Borges thoughtfully perused a rack of colorful scarves. It took her only six seconds to decide, emphatically plucking a cranberry red scarf with tassels and swinging it into the cart.

"She's a lady who knows what she wants," said Sy Mahfuz of Nashua, who was helping Kyra with her shopping at Walmart in Hudson on Monday night.

Kyra, 9, and nearly 150 other Nashua kids stormed the store armed with adrenaline and shopping lists, poised to play a bit of Santa for their families this Christmas.

The kids – ranging in ages from 5 to 18, and who were members of either the Girls Inc. of Greater Nashua or the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua – were each given $100 gift cards. The spree, in its third year running, was made possible by a $10,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Nashua, and a $4,500 donation by Walmart.
