Mike has 34 years with the YMCA and 26 years in our local community.  Most in the audience have participated or supported the YMCA at some time in their lives.  The first dedicated building was built in 1902 on Temple street.  1924 Camp Sargent was built.  In 1964 the Prospect Street facility was built.  In 1992 the Henry Clay Building was built.  In 2011 the latest facility was built on Stadium Drive.  In 2015, Camp Spaulding was created.  In 2019, Westwood Park Facility was taken over.  Rotary’s own, Beth Covino is the director of community relations.

A video was provided on how the “Y” has made an impact in our community.  There are areas of focus at the Y are activities – Youth Development (super hero program, Y achievement center, early education center for babies and parents who need to return to work shortly after delivery, summer early loss prevention program); Healthy Living (promote health, reduce risk for disease and help others reclaim their health, LiveStrong - a cancer survivor focused program).

Mike reviewed current stats on Y programs that were very impressive in showing the depth of their participation in the community.
