On March 27th, Suzanne Doherty of Loft Technologies, addressed the Rotary Club of Nashua regarding her club sponsored trip to India. Suzanne lived with host families and traveled to many areas in India. She saw the impact of the Rotary during her travels visiting Rotary schools. Many children in the poorest parts of India rely on Rotary schools for education, uniforms, food and transportation.

Rotary schools include feeding children to encourage families to send their children to school by relieving some of their financial burden. A large percentage of students do not graduate because they must work to support their families. As an innovator of STEM education in the local area, Suzanne noted that innovation and STEM education was really an opportunity for those paying for private schools. One of the best questions asked by students was “how do you get food in New England when the ground is covered with snow most of the year?” The presentation was ended with President Carol Farmer being adorned with head wear, decorative scarves and many handmade souvenirs from the trip. These items were given to the Rotary and will be on display for next week’s meeting.
