On October 21st, Gwen Krailo-Lyons, Nashua Police Commissioner and Founder of “Building Dreams for Marines”, addressed the Rotary Club of Nashua regarding, Building Dreams for Marines. Originally from Pittsburgh, Gwen is an engineer. In Nashua she served on the Zoning Board for 12 years.
Building Dreams For Marines has been established to assist Marines and other service members who have mobility challenges with life-enhancing modifications to their homes or vehicles. For our brave men and women who have lost some aspect of their mobility, Building Dreams for Marines steps in to provide no-cost planning, designing and building services. From access ramps and railings to stair lifts and more, our organization seeks to service those who have selflessly served America.
The Board of Directors is entirely volunteer and no one with Building Dreams for Marines is compensated for their commitment. Less than 2% of revenue goes to fund raising and advertising... 98% is dedicated to projects.
Assist Marines to live more comfortably and confidently in their homes by making home improvements to make it easier for them to move around their home. We consider any type of renovation that will help Marines move in and around their homes, including the installation of interior and exterior ramps, renovation of kitchens, bedrooms and baths, widening of doorways and hallways, and installation of other hardware such as grab bars, swing-away hinges, and fixtures such as sinks, cabinets, toilets, and roll-in showers.
Program serves any Marine veteran or other service member who served honorably and who has a physically-limiting condition may apply for a home renovation project. It is not a requirement that the physical disabilities resulted from combat or service-related injuries. We are currently accepting applications from NH-based veterans.
