On May 18th, Dr. Jessica Woods, an audiologist in her own private practice here in Nashua, addressed the Rotary Club of Nashua about Audiology, hearing loss and treatment. Dr. Woods works with adults and children and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of tinnitus, sudden hearing loss and early intervention and treatment of hearing loss from aging.

Actually 65% of people with hearing loss are under the age of 65, many put off the treatment of hearing loss due to the old age stigma associated with it.  Several studies have shown a connection between hearing loss and the loss of memory and brain function, as the hearing problem continues, the brain isn’t working as hard and actually starts to shrink which causes memory problems.  The technology for hearing aids continues to advance and the hearing aids themselves continue to get smaller.  Dr. Woods recommend that everyone should have a an annual hearing test to establish a baseline for your hearing and to take corrective action when your hearing beginnings to decline.  Hearing better should be easy.
