On June 13th, President Beth Covino introduced Jane Marquis who announced the Rotary Club of Nashua 2022 Scholarship Award recipients. There were 3 recipients with parents in attendance. The meeting began with a brief report on the experience from three previous scholarship award winners.
Report on experiences from three previous scholarship award winners:
- Anai Dominguez is studying in Philadelphia, and was a Rotary Scholarship recipient in 2020. She discussed how being a recipient of a Rotary Scholarship has greatly impacted her college experience.
- Marianne Mederos, a Rotary Scholarship recipient in 2021, discussed her experiences at studying elementary education at Keene State and unique volunteer opportunities. She thanked the club for supporting her college experience.
- Sneha Prakash, a Rotary Scholarship recipient in 2021, discussed her experiences at University of Rochester, studying neuroscience.
The Rotary Club of Nashua 2022 The recipients are:
- Jenna Hamelin was awarded $14,000 as the 2022 recipient of the Arsenault/Faucher Memorial Scholarship, for exemplifying service above self. This goes directly to Jenna, as $3,500 per year of college. She is a student at Nashua High School South, and a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions, Best Buddies, Girls Up, a volunteer at the YMCA, and a 4 year member of the Interact Club. She thanked the club for their generous award. She is planning to attend UNH in the fall.
- Nora Palkon was also awarded a $14,000 scholarship. She is an honors and AP student at Nashua High School South, and will be attending Tufts University in the fall. She is a member of the Interact Club, President of the Planet Earth Club, and member of the Student Senate. Nora thanked our club for the generous scholarship.
- Nina Mahalingam was awarded an $8,000 scholarship. She’s a member of the Interact Club, Volleyball team, and National Honors Society. Nina will be attending University of California-Davis because of the school’s dedication to sustainability, and will be studying biochemistry. She thanked the club the generous scholarship.
All parents of the recipients were thanked for their immeasurable part in raising such accomplished students.
