The Front Door Agency serves the Greater Nashua community through its core programs: Prevention & Intervention of Homelessness, Permanent Affordable Housing, Transitional Housing, Crisis Advocacy & Resource Education, and Financial Literacy. The Front Door Agency’s recent project, renovating the Agency’s Vine Street “Victory House,” will help to better house single mothers and children in the Transitional Housing Program. Harbor Homes Safe Stations

Harbor Homes Safe Stations Initiative

 
Harbor Homes Safe Stations Initiative is a unique and successful strategy for helping individuals in need of substance use disorder treatment. At any time of the day or night, an individual in need of help can go to any Nashua fire station (“Safe Station”), where the firemen and women provide a quick assessment to determine if emergency medical care may be needed, at which point texts, emails, and phone calls are initiated to on-call Harbor Home staff. Within 20 minutes, a Harbor Homes trained recovery support provider responds in person to transport the participant to one of three locations, where substance use disorder treatment, behavioral and primary health care, and emergency shelter will be provided. Nashua Children's Home

Nashua Children’s Home Transitional Living

 
The Nashua Children’s Home provides care and stability to boys and girls unable to remain with their families, special education services for students who have not been successful in public school settings, and supportive housing for youth that have “aged-out” of care. Their Transitional Living Program (TLP) assists young adults transitioning into self-sufficiency and prevent long-term dependency on the social service system. Housing is provided at a nominal rent, along with continuing staff support and guidance for young adults that have exited the child-protective or juvenile justice system. Nashua Police Athletic League’s PAL Youth Safe Haven

 
Nashua PAL creates a positive attitude between the children of Nashua and the members of the Nashua Police Department through sponsored sports, activities and enrichment programs. As part of the aim to success in this mission, Nashua PAL provides a Youth Safe Haven at a community center in the heart of Nashua's "at-risk" neighborhoods. The Center is open to youth 7 - 18 years of age, serving youth daily The Center Offers unlimited programming. The Greater Nashua YMCA’s Summer Learning Loss Prevention Program (SLLP) improves literacy skills for children in low-income communities. The YMCA believes in the importance of keeping children engaged in reading during the summer, and the benefits it has on their school year academics and social interactions. In response to national studies that show children in third grade who are reading below grade level are more susceptible to dropping out of high school, The Y is helping to combat illiteracy through their 6-week summer program. End 68 Hours of Hunger

The Nashua chapter of End 68 Hours of Hunger helps fight food insecurity in our community. This program puts nourishing food in the hands of school children—children who otherwise receive insufficient food on a regular basis—to carry them through the weekend. Each bag of food provides two breakfasts, two lunches, and three dinners for a child who regularly experiences the “fear of hunger” than can affect both their bodies and behavior. United Way of Greater Nashua for Sinfonietta Strings of Greater Nashua

Sinfonietta Strings of Greater Nashua is a United Way program that teaches violin and viola weekly to students in the Nashua public schools, offering an after school string ensemble to all string students in the Greater Nashua area.  Complementing the existing school band programs, and enhancing the regular classroom programs, Sinfonietta Strings teaches children to focus while learning how to read music and play an instrument, promotes social learning, and encourages team work.
