Speaker Committees

Programs will be coordinated by Speaker Committees, each of which serve for a two-month interval. The committees are responsible for securing and introducing speakers.

Guidelines for Speakers

1.  Breakfast begins at 7:30 am in the lower level of the Dublin Congregational Church on Main Street, next to Yankee Publishing.  Speakers should arrive slightly ahead of that time; say between 7:20 and 7:30.

2.  Speakers are invited to share breakfast with the club.  We generally have between 20 and 30 members at each breakfast.

3.  After breakfast and normal club business (introduction of guests, “happy dollars” segment, pledge of allegiance and singing of “America the Beautiful”), the speaker’s portion of the program normally commences around 8:00 am.  Speakers should time their presentation, including questions, to end no later than 8:30 am.

4.  Most speakers do not use audiovisual aids since the time is short.  If you would like to bring audiovisual aids to use in your presentation, please let the Speaker Committee chair know.  Some speakers hand out publications or information from their organizations in support of their remarks.

5.  Rotary is focused on community service (for example we sponsor the Monadnock Wellness Festival each year) so we are interested in what you or your organization do for, or with, the Monadnock community.  We’re also interested in speakers who can talk about an interesting experience, knowledge or talent, even if it is only peripherally connected with the Monadnock community.  Speakers will most often focus on describing their group, work, experiences, knowledge or talent, but will refrain from overt solicitation for a business interest.

6.  Attire is that which speakers will be wearing during their working day.  Club member dress ranges from jeans to business suits, so whatever attire the speakers arrive in generally fits in well.

7.  Please develop a “title” or subject for your remarks and forward the information to the Speaker Committee chair as soon as you can.  We use this information in our internal newsletters to let our membership know who will be speaking, and what they will be speaking about.
