Rotary Youth Exchange in motion for 2013
Plans are in motion for the Milford Rotary Club to participate in the Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) program for 2013-2014.
Maggie Zavgren of Wilton has been confirmed as our 2013 outbound RYE student. She will be heading to Turkey in September. If her name rings a bell, it might be because her sister, Sadie Rose Zavgren, was our outbound student to Thailand in 2011.
With an outbound student confirmed, the club is expected to host an inbound RYE student during the 2013-2014 year. As yet, there has been no word on who that inbound student will be nor where they hail from. In addition to celebrating Maggie’s participation, the key point right now for Milford Rotary is to be prepared to host the inbound RYE student and that includes housing.
As Marc Chareth explained “The expectation of our hosting from the District is an important priority with our outbound confirmed. A household with high school kids in the school system the student will attend is also important. Milford, Souhegan or Wilton-Lyndeborough are all options.”
As a former RYE host home participant, Jay Dinkel remarked on what a wonderful experience it was for him and his family to host an exchange student. He went on to say that having 2 or 3 host homes probably enhances the experience for the inbound student.
If anyone is interested or knows of a family interested in hosting a RYE student, please contact Doug Rupert or President-elect John Siemienowicz.
