Welcome, Congratulations, Kudos & Thanks Yous!
Festivities were in full swing Friday night, June 21st, for “Ted Langdell” Day as we celebrated the end of another great Rotary year! President Todd conferred some fun Presidential Pardons and Diane Shieh master minded a “Whiskey Auction” that raised $1000 for a special upcoming project. The past year was filled with many magical moments perhaps topped off this month by the hugely successful 30th Annual Milford Rotary 100 Holes of Golf in One Day tournament and the club’s presentation of $52,000 in scholarships to twelve graduating seniors along with eight renewal scholarships.
The evening was topped off by two very special honors for Mrs. Suzanne (Suzy) Ten Broeck, wife of a beloved member of our club, the late Peter Ten Broeck and mother of Groton-Pepperell Rotarian Derek Ten Broeck.
Back in the day before women were allowed into Rotary, Suzy would have been referred to as a “Rotary Ann” – the devoted spouse of a Rotarian who pitched in to support and help their spouses with Rotary activities wherever needed. (History of Rotary Anns) Suzy’s support for all things Rotary goes well beyond her “spousal and motherly” responsibilities. She truly believes in “service above self” and continues to be a dear friend of this club. In recognition of her support for Rotary, the club honored her as a Paul Harris Fellow and named her as our newest Honorary Member! Congratulations Suzy and Welcome!
This evening of celebration was made possible by our gracious hosts, Christine and Rob Keller, who once again shared their lively barn and grounds with us. Kudos to our chefs, cooks and serving team who outdid themselves in presenting a delicious feast of lobsters, steaks and all the fixings. Bravo and many thanks to all who helped organize the evening.
