At the May meeting of the Milford, Souhegan and Wilton-Lyndeborough Interact Club the students presented checks to a number of charities. Pictured below are just some of the 70+ students who belong to the local Rotary Interact Club.

Joint Interact Club, including Milford High, raises funds for charity
Local students come together every day to work toward something that is much bigger than themselves. More often than not, this work goes unrecognized.
On May 1, the joint Interact Club consisting of students from Milford, Souhegan and Wilton-Lyndeborough high schools donated a total of $3,250 they had raised to be divided among various organizations within the community and internationally.
Members have worked together to raise money all year through various Rotary Club events, such as the Milford Pumpkin Festival. Students from the club worked together to present their ideas about the various organizations before they voted on whom to donate money to.
The organizations chosen were Hope for Gus, Bridges, the Open Cupboard Food Pantry in Wilton and Doctors Without Borders.
Hope For Gus is a local foundation started in honor of Gus Dreher, a young boy with duchenne muscular dystrophy, a recessive genetic mutation that causes weakening of the muscles. There is no cure or effective treatment. The foundation raises money for research in hopes of finding a cure.
Bridges is a nonprofit organization that provides free and confidential services to victims and survivors of domestic and dating violence, sexual assault and abuse, stalking and harassment. Bridges provides emergency shelter and intervention for those who need it.
The Open Cupboard Food Pantry serves those living in Wilton, Temple and Lyndeborough with food assistance.
Doctors Without Borders provides medical assistance and treatment to those in need.
During this meeting, members from local organizations came to accept checks from the group. The work that Interact students have done is sure to make a difference.
Donating money to various organizations made me feel like I had truly made an impact in our community and abroad,” said Alyssa Kaufold, a senior at Milford High School. “It gave me a feeling of fulfillment and made me proud of the work myself and the Interact Club had done to reach our goal.”
The eagerness of Interact members made for a truly successful evening that went to show that the collaboration and hard work of its members went a long way.
