Wednesday May 7th was a  perfect day for a barbeque! Seniors from all over the Souhegan Valley joined Milford Rotarians for the 36th annual Senior Citizens' Chicken Barbeque. Many thanks to the Yankee Chef and Frederick's Pastries, to the wonderful musicians and vocalists from Milford High and to Lesli Rendell's team of Souhegan High freshmen who did a fantastic job serving and cleaning-up. Many thanks to Bedford Fields, The House By The Side Of The Road, Shaw's of Milford, Dunkin Donuts, and Moulton's Market for their wonderful raffle prize donations! Bravo to the event organizers Jane Lyttle and May Balsama.

Milford Rotary was ably represented by Bob Moulton and Stan Kankowski at the Milford Pride Town Wide Clean-up Day, held Saturday, May 3rd by the Milford Improvement Team and The Benevolent #7 Masonic Lodge. Bob and Stan were assigned the area on Perry Road near the Rte. 101 Bypass. The duo picked up approximately 10 bags of trash. While not one of the most visible parts of town as Bob said, "Every little bit helps make Milford the great place it is to live". Stan wondered if time picking up trash by the side of the road was applicable to work release for any future time in the slammer. Bob opined that the warden would probably just make us chiefs of the work crew.

Milford Rotary Club once again provided financial support to the annual Souhegan Valley Crop Walk to Fight Hunger. Organizers of this year’s event set the goal of raising $35,000, to push the cumulative total for 25 years over the $600,000 mark. According to organizer John David, it looks like the 2014 CROP Walk will raise closer to $37,000, when all pledges are turned in. To read more about this event, click here

From Sheila Sturm, Human Rights Committee Chair - Thank you J.M. Princewell for your generous donation to Milford Rotary Club supporting our fundraiser for Lotus Pedals, a Lotus Outreach project that supplies bicycles to adolescent girls in Cambodia, helping them get to and from school safely and efficiently. Your donation helped purchase 8 of 20 bicycles. Well Done. I also want to thank Souhegan Cycleworks, and The Skin Care Studio by Kylee B Ross, for their generous donations to Milford Rotary Club supporting our fundraiser for Lotus Pedals. Their donations combined enabled the purchase of 3 of 20 bicycles. To learn more about the Lotus Pedals project, click here.
