We are one week past our CASA ski event, but it was such a good time that a re-cap is in order.

Guests arrived at the Chareth condo around 6 PM Thursday. This year the  Swamp Rats Team included  Dave and Sheila, Glenn F. and Shannon E., Coach Joe and head cheerleader Paige, our hosts Marc, Julie and Erica Chareth, Stan K., Julie W., President Rick,  and blender queen Paula T.

After dinner at Gypsy the pre-event strategy party got underway. for dinner. Glenn kept the tunes going with some great 80s music with Paula and especially Sheila (who else) dancing up a storm. Paula kept the blender going, and  really fun and ... and fun and fun.. what else can I say... bonding took place. Rotary fellowship doesn't get much better! Sheila and Dave got the sanity award for crashing early, while everyone else dropped off between 1 and 3 AM.

Friday morning saw the Swamp Rats Ski Team report to the base lodge just in time to make last registration. Joe was on Paige duty, so he deputized Rick Boyd to lead the golf squad. We played in an eight-some and recorded a 17 (for nine holes). Dave's extra sleep paid off as he reportedly was the star golfer. Our 17 was one stroke better than our arch enemy Rick Coveno's team  and two better than the Manchester Firefighters. The firefighters made some noise about "erasergate" or some other nonsense, but Coach Raczek, taking his cue from Coach Belichick and Tom Brady, denied everything. However,  he did admit to sticking pins in a voodoo doll around the time the other two teams were playing while he was still back at the condo with Paige.

Like the Patriots, when you have a dynasty, others take pot shots at you. President Boyd was outstanding in his first year on the Swamp Rats team, leading us to first place hardware.

As usual, a great time was had by all. Conditions were ideal, and the ski golf event supports a great cause while also providing our club with a great fellowship opportunity. Thanks again to the Chareths for hosting.

PS: NH Chronicle did a piece on the CASA event and Marc was interviewed about the  Swamp Rats' long history of participation. WMUR's NH Chronicle will feature the CASA Snowfest on Wednesday February 18th 7 pm.  Hope you can tune in! CASA - NH is a great organization helping children in need. Click HERE for more info.
