STAN POWERS MEMORIAL AWARD

Established 1991
by The Board of Directors and Officers of the Milford Rotary Club
 

This award honors the accomplishments and memory of an outstanding Milford Rotarian, Stanley E. Powers. Known as “Mr. Rotarian” Stan Powers exemplified the finest qualities of a Rotarian.  He was a charter member of the Milford Rotary Club (1950) and president in 1953-54.  Later Stan was elected club secretary, a job he held until his death in 1989.  His intimate knowledge of Rotary, his leadership, and his dedication toward perfect attendance influenced all the members of our club.  Stan Powers was the first Paul Harris Fellow in our Milford club.

 

Therefore, in honor of Stanley E. Powers the board of directors and officers of the Milford Rotary Club established the Stan Powers Memorial Award.  Annually, the board will honor a member (or members) of our club who has demonstrated a Stan Powers commitment to Rotary service.  The award will consist of a contribution to the Rotary Foundation in the recipient’s name of a maximum of $750 (credits or cash).  As this contribution is awarded toward securing a Paul Harris Fellow, the board can lower the amount if it will complete a member’s Sustaining Rotary Foundation Membership.

A wall plaque will be maintained with each Stan Power’s recipient’s name.

A suitable personal memento will be given to each member honored.  The board presently is awarding a brass lobster, reflecting Stan Powers love of lobster.

Stan Powers enjoyed the festive Ted Langdell Day and this event is an ideal time to make the award.
