On Sunday morning, Nov. 9, 2025, the Grimsby Rotary team was rocking the house to support Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Niagara. The team of Harry Pelisserio, Clarence McCloskey, Sharon Rizzuto, and Marie Solvason gave an excellent effort on all four ends. However, the opposing team took the win, 5-3. As is customary in curling, handshakes were warmly exchanged before friendly chatter at a table over cold beer.
After a delicious lunch, the Grimsby Rotary team again hit the ice. This time Rotary fared better. Tying their rivals.
The scoreboard only tells part of the story; the true winners on the day were Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Niagara. The funds raised from this two-day tournament will support the organization's vital mentorship programs. When kids and young adults have a positive mentor, their opportunities expand. Educational success becomes more likely, and the cycle of poverty can be broken.
As Rotarians, we are committed to being People of Action to make the world better. We can make a difference locally and internationally. We look forward to more events to support this much-needed organization.
