With the beginning of a new Rotary year, the President's gavel has passed from Sarah Hughes to Tracey Koenig. Thank you Sarah for the hard work and time you put into the many activities the Rotary Club of Marion-East Cedar Rapids accomplished in the past year. There were a bunch. We welcome Tracey and will support her as she provides leadership in the 2019-2020 Rotary Year. The official exchange of the gavel took place at our Year End Celebration on Thursday, June 20 at the Lowe Park Arts and Environmental Center.  Sarah thanked her Board and Craig Novak presented Sarah with a plaque commemorating her year. He also presented a number of perfect attendance awards.

Highlights of the evening were the presentation of the Club's special awards. The "Rotarian of the Year" was presented to Cindy Shipley for stepping up to help and lead in a number of projects throughout the year not least of which was the Waffle Breakfast. The "Jack Hotchkiss Award" which honors persons who represent the soul of Rotary was given to Greg Hapgood who is a Charter Member of the Club, Past President, Past District Governor and who has had Perfect Attendance since the beginning of the Club. A Rotarian who can match that example is truly special.
