It is nice when we can tout the accomplishments of one of our own. Tom Barnes is the Chair of the Marion Economic Development Company (MEDCO). Tom is also a long-time member of Rotary International. If you know Tom, you know that he has is very selfless and strongly believes that we should give back to their community. He leads by example.

Tom is going to be recognized in a White House ceremony on April 5 for a Rotary program he has managed for many years. Mr. Barnes, through "Shoes for Kids" and the Marion Rotary, raised many thousands of dollars and has provided over 2750 children with new shoes.

The first ever upcoming Marion Rotary Marathon has just been sanctioned and proceeds will go towards the "Shoes for Kids" program. You can learn more about the marathon, including on how to volunteer by going to: www.marathonforshoes.com
