Rotary Showing Holiday Spirit with Festival of Trees Entry

   

 

In the efforts to raise money for several area non-profit programs (including our very own Shoes for Kids) the Marion-East Cedar Rapids Rotary brought a beautiful wine-themed entry to the Festival of Trees this year. This tall spruce featured an array of carefully crafted hand-made ornaments and décor, many of which incorporated wine corks, wire and beading in a number of creative ways. The tree went on display along with 57 others this past weekend for an estimated crowd of over 9,000 on-lookers. A live auction took place Sunday evening at the conclusion of the event where the tree could be purchased and given a place of permanent residence for the holidays. Some of the proceeds of the auction were presented to the Club by Nikki Schaul of the Jaycees who organized the event.
