Metro Rotary Clubs assist flood victims with appliance needs.

Many Rotary Clubs throughout the Country have found it in their hearts to assist victims of the June 2008 flooding. As rebuilding continues, the Cedar Rapids Metro Rotary Clubs have begun na campaign to assist families with the replacement of major appliances.  At last report, nearly 3200 appliances were lost in the flood, most by households least able to replace them. A goal has been set to provide 250 of the hardest-hit families with a $400 voucher that can be used toward the purchase of a washer, range, refrigerator or other major appliance. Your contributions, along with dozens of others, both from individual Rotarians and clubs elsewhere in the country, have provided about $65,000 to begin this effort. Funds continue to be received in this effort in the hope of raising $100,000. Vouchers are beginning to be dispersed.
