LINN COUNTY SAFE KIDS COALITION TO

DISTRIBUTE AND FIT 175 BIKE HELMETS

The Linn County SAFE Kids Coalition, which is sponsored in part by the Marion Fire and Police Departments, will be distributing bicycle helmets at Emerson Elementary, 1400 10th Avenue, Marion, on Friday, April 12th. Pre-kindergarten through second grade students, approximately 175 children, will receive the bicycle helmets and will be properly fitted by members of the SAFE Kids Coalition.

There will be a safety presentation at 9:00 a.m. followed by members of the Coalition properly fitting the students with bicycle helmets. Wearing a properly fitted helmet can reduce the possibility of injury by 88 percent.

The Linn County SAFE Kids Coalition received a $500 donation from the Marion-East Cedar Rapids Rotary Club, who requested that the helmets be provided to Marion elementary students.
