The Rotary Club of Marion-East Cedar Rapids celebrated its 50th Birthday with the Marion community at the Marion Chamber's Uptown Getdown at Marion Square Park on August 1. The regular Thursday night event featured the band, The Flaming Camaros on a beautiful summer evening. Our Club served birthday cake from the Kettle House that night. Rotarians wore their Rotary paraphernalia and served well over 600 pieces of cake to the crowd who became much better acquainted with our Club. MECR Rotarian and District Governor Michelle Bell presented Club President Tracey Koenig with a congratulatory resolution for our 50th Anniversat. Charter members Bob Butschi and Greg Hapgood attended as well. We also used our new canopy tent which we will display whenever we are out in the community providing service in a multitude of ways.
