Host a German Exchange Student Through Kirkwood Community College
Kirkwood Community College is seeking local host families for three German exchange students who will be studying in our community during the upcoming academic year through the prestigious Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) Program, a partnership between the U.S. and German governments.
The students will attend classes at Kirkwood during the fall semester and complete internships related to their fields of study during the spring semester. Living with a host family provides them with an opportunity to experience American culture firsthand while sharing their own German traditions and perspectives.
This year's students include:
- Lukas, who hopes to become a Paint Lab Technician and enjoys playing soccer.
- Leni, who plans to study Office Management and is also a soccer enthusiast.
- Jolina, who is interested in finance and taxation and enjoys fencing and horseback riding.
These students are known for being independent, responsible, and eager to become involved in their host communities. They will purchase vehicles for transportation to classes and internships, and host families receive a small stipend to help offset hosting costs.
Hosting an exchange student is a rewarding opportunity to build international connections, share American culture, and make a lasting impact on a young person's life.
