It is with sadness that we mourn the passing of longtime member, Duane St. John on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Duane joined our Club in June of 1996 and was a past President, Treasurer and Director of the Club. He was active in many Club projects over the years and was a friend and mentor to many of us. We extend our sympathies to Duane's wife Deb, children Stacie, Patrick and Cara and their families.
"Duane was a Certified Public Accountant and worked in Cedar Rapids since 1976. Duane enjoyed working with and assisting his many clients. Duane was a member of the AICPA and ISCPA (Life Member) and a past board member of the ISCPA’s. Duane was active in the Cedar Rapids community including past President of the Marion-East Cedar Rapids Rotary Club, past President of the Linn-Mar School Foundation, board member of the Marion YMCA and many years serving on various boards of his church, First Congregational United Church of Christ. Duane also served in the US Army from 1968-1970.
Duane loved athletics, both participate and as a spectator. He was a diehard Hawkeye fan (making it to every Big 10 football stadium, except Rutgers). He enjoyed the opportunity to “coach” his children in their sporting endeavors and other youth sports. Duane enjoyed most following his children and grandchildren in their sporting, music and other activities. Duane considered himself fortunate to be recognized as a first team all metro and first team all conference his senior year of basketball at East Waterloo and to participate in the 1965 state basketball tournament. He was a member of the basketball teams at both Iowa Wesleyan College and UNI."
Duane will be missed.
