At the November Board meeting the Board approved raising the monthly Marion-East Cedar Rapids Rotary Club dues from $62 to $65 beginning with January billings. After discussion by the Administration Committee and information on current costs were identified,  it was determined that an increase would be advisable. Club dues have not been raised since before 2002. Club dues include meals which were $8.34 per meal in 2002 and cost $13 today. Rotary International dues have increased from $17.50 for six months to $30.69 for our last six month billing. District dues have increased from $19 to $22 per member per year since 2002. "The Rotarian" magazine has actually decreased from $7.50 for six months to $6.00 over the past 12+ years.

The increase will be seen in the January bills. Several members pay their dues ahead three months, six months or 12 months. The $65/month billing will take effect upon the next billing for those members.

Nobody likes to see increases however this increase is needed to cover basic costs for our Club. Our fundraising from the Marathon, Waffle Breakfast and Silent Auction and other events cover our philanthropic work as do personal donations for the Foundation and activities of the Club. Our events also make Rotary and our Club known to our community as well as a great way for us to work together and get to know each other better. "Our little Club does big things" and your active participation has significant impact on those who need our help.
