Marion Cares Seeks Community Volunteers This Fall
As fall approaches, Marion Cares is offering several opportunities to support local families and children through volunteer service, donations, and community partnerships.
Trunk or Treat & Winter Necessities Event
Monday, October 19, 2026
5:00-6:00 p.m.
Squaw Creek Village
This annual event combines fall fun with practical support for families preparing for winter. Children receive winter clothing and families can access essential items such as hats, gloves, blankets, socks, and other necessities.
Ways to help:
- Sponsor a child with winter clothing
- Host a winter necessities drive
- Volunteer by decorating a trunk or hosting a game/activity
- Sponsor the event or make a financial contribution
SHINE After-School Program
Marion Cares' SHINE (Seeking Him in Neighborhoods Everywhere) program provides students with educational activities, mentoring, snacks, and positive relationships in a safe environment.
Volunteers are needed as:
- Adult mentors
- Youth mentors
- Program volunteers
Financial support is also welcomed to help provide supplies, activities, and program staffing.
Housing Stability Initiative
Through its Housing Stability & Homelessness Prevention Initiative, Marion Cares helps local families avoid eviction, utility disconnection, and homelessness.
The organization's "15 for 15 Campaign" seeks community partners to contribute $1,000 each to match a $15,000 grant received from the Marion Civil Rights Commission.
Meal Programs and Thanksgiving Deliveries
Volunteers are needed to:
- Prepare freezer meals through the Crockpot Family Meal Program
- Deliver meals to local families
- Deliver Thanksgiving meal boxes on Sunday, November 22
These opportunities are ideal for individuals, families, businesses, church groups, and service organizations looking to make a difference in the community.
