Fellow Rotarians, I know many of you have been clamoring for a chance to drive  in a real live, no kidding race, not one of those driving "experiences".  We have Club members who will race on November 2, 2019.  And as a triple bonus all the proceeds go to the Marion-East CR's charities (including "Shoes for Kids") and Polio Plus.

Where-Hawkeye Downs Speedway

When-Saturday November 2, 2019 at high noon

What-The track has been putting on 200 lap endurance races (called an Enduro) where all cars are started (last time we had 37 entries) and the race runs without a stoppage unless there is a track blockage, or emergency vehicles are needed.  This is a great way to try it out, about half the field were rookies or inexperienced drivers last time.

Details-The cars are front wheel drive 4 or 6 cylinder stock cars with basic safety rules.  I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier that will be ready to race for the winner of the bid.  I will provide the helmets-driving suits-gloves-truck-trailer-crew-extra wheels/tires and have everything ready to go.  Just show up and race.   The race takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to run, in case you were wondering.

Can more than one person drive?  YES!  I think we will limit it to a 3 person team if that's what you want to do.  So a couple friends, coworkers, family members can divide the driving up, no problem, we will make it happen.

The final touches have been put on the #RotaryRocks number 50, and we are ready for the Enduro coming up on this Saturday, November 2nd, 2019.

I will be announcing the race, so we will get our message out and hopefully be entertained.

The gates open at 11 am and the race rolls at 12 pm.  Tickets are only $ 5.00, it looks a bit brisk, but think of it like a football game, dress warm, and join the FUN!

The drivers have been instructed to arrive at 10 am for some pointers and hot laps.  I have called in my old crew chief and one of my fellow drivers (retired) to make sure driver and/or tire changes go smoothly.

I have attached a picture of the car so you can see it turned out great (thank you Derek at Innovative Signs!).  We will be looking good on the track.
For the second race mini Flat Paul Harris will be riding along in an Enduro.  He kept a watchful eye over my preparations, and he agrees we are ready. I have also attached a picture of him approving the #RotaryRocks number 50!

I hope you can join us for the mayhem, carnage, and watch the cars go in circles!
If anyone has a burning desire to get behind the wheel of the #28 car for part of the race, let me know and we can work something out.

100% of the proceeds go to MECR and Polio Plus.  Come out and cheer the #50 #rotaryrocks (with #flatpaulharris on board) car on!  The race runs rain-snow-sunshine and the grandstands are covered.
