The Start School Right event was started by a Marion teacher 3 years ago to help kids from low-income families look forward to the start of school. Marion Independent School District students from Pre-K through 12th grade can receive school supplies, clothing, bedding, food, hygiene products, haircuts and more thanks to community partners. Free dental, vision and hearing screening are also available. This year, Rotary donated over 200 pairs of shoes. A special thank you to Sarah Hughes, Cindy Shipley, Greg & Nancy Hapgood, Jeff Selfridge, Susan Pfeiler-Todd, Craig Novak and Christa Nelson for volunteering their time and Joe Lenz for donating dental supplies.
