Foundation First Newsletter - October, 2026
Fall has arrived and with it comes World Polio Day and November is Foundation Month. There is still time to include a Foundation program in your schedule. Please reach out to me if you have a speaker request and the committee will accommodate you if possible. The best way to increase support for Our Rotary Foundation is to increase awareness of Our Rotary Foundation.
World Polio Day
As World Polio Day approaches there are many events happening in our district, from the Polio Walk to Pints for Polio. There is no right way to spread awareness! Please consider a Press Release in your communities to share that information. Click here to see the one from Cedar Rapids area clubs to give you an idea on how to write one. Feel free to copy and share using your information.
Polio Plus Society
As we prepare for and celebrate world polio day October 24th it is important to renew our determination to rid the world of wild polio. One way to do this is to join others in District 5970 and pledge $100.00 per Rotary year to The PolioPlus Campaign until The World Health Organization has declared wild polio eradicated. Please click here to review the application to The District’s PolioPlus Society or find it on the District’s website www.district5970.org.
Current statistics are:
2026 Wild Polio Case Total - 42 Pakistan 6, Afghanistan 36
