The Rotary Club of Flamborough AM recently sent a delegate to Ottawa to participate in the Adventures in Citizenship program. This event provides young Canadians with an opportunity to gain an understanding of what it means to be a citizen of Canada and allows them to make lasting connections with other delegates from across the country.
This past May, The Rotary Club of Flamborough AM once again sent a young person to the Rotary Adventures in Citizenship event in Ottawa, ON. Our delegate was Prince Xia who is a high school senior from Hamilton, ON.
Prince proved to be an excellent candidate for this event based on his desire to explore the nature of Canadian citizenship and his enthusiasm for reaching out to others to learn more about the diversity of youth in this country. Sponsored by our club, Prince was able to travel to Ottawa where he spent four days engaging with other delegates as they learned about the rights and responsibilities associated with being a citizen of Canada. They also toured the Canadian Parliament and had many cultural experiences.
Prince returned with new knowledge of citizenship that will allow him to continue to make positive contributions to his community, but it is the new friendships that he has made that will have an immediate impact on his understanding of what it means to be Canadian!
