November 2022 will mark the nineteenth year of the Rotary Club of Ventura’s Coats for Kids Project. Again this year the Rotary Club of Ventura South joins in the effort. The clubs initiate the collection of coats at numerous locations. They will be cleaned or laundered by local businesses. Rotary organizes their distribution. In spite of the limitations of the Pandemic last year over 2500 coats were given to needy children and adults in Ventura County. This year Rotary hopes to collect 4000 coats and jackets. Recipients of the coats include the Boys and Girls Clubs, The Salvation Army, Casa Pacifica, Project Understanding, Westminster Free Clinic, Ventura County Rescue Mission, churches and other service organizations.

COATS FOR KIDS PROJECT

NOVEMBER 1- DECEMBER 31, 2022

Collection boxes will be placed in businesses and clubs in Ventura County the week of November 1, 2022. Members of the Downtown Rotary Club of Ventura and Rotary Club of Ventura South will collect the donated coats and jackets and arrange for cleaning. Crown Plaza of Ventura will launder the majority of the donated items. Rotary will distribute the coats and jackets to service organizations in the community. The formal 2022 project continues until December 31, 2022. The program has been extended and is NOW YEAR-AROUND. Collection will be ongoing with participants who wish to continue to accept donations after December 31.

As a result of the Pandemic the need for coats for citizens of our community is more critical than ever before. With the hard work and dedication of the members of the Rotary Clubs of Ventura and Ventura South and with your support, over 2500 citizens were warm last winter. Making the world a better place to live, one coat at a time, is a goal worth achieving. Rotary Clubs are dedicated to improving the lives of others. For the past eighteen years, the Coats for Kids Project has been a huge success thanks to the efforts of its members and our valuable community partners.
