Members of Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise and Rotary Club of Ciudad Sandino in 2019. 
 
In late August 2023, ten Delegates from the Sunrise Rotary Club (Hannah Rael, Tom Heath, Bruce Belfiore, Liz Alves and her husband Boris Alves, Janet Napier, Connard Hogan, E Russell Smith, LuzMaria Ortiz, and Oscar Zavala) will be traveling on a 7-day trip to Managua, Nicaragua and meet with Cuidad Sandino Rotarians. They have an exciting and full itinerary which includes: 
  • Visits to the Sunrise supported Nueva Vida Health Clinic to participate in a health fair; 
  • Do some cleaning and maintenance on an Sunrise & RI sponsored aquaponics project, as well as visit some homes with operating aquaponic tank systems; 
  • Visit the well established Sunrise Rotary and RI sponsored water project;
  • Participate with Cuidad Sandino's mayor's office in a Sunrise Rotary District funded Ecological Brigade project;
  • Visit Ruben Dario Cultural Center in Cuidad Sandino where the Sunrise Club has funded musical instruments for the community;
  • Meet with members from the Cuidad Sandino community to learn more about their needs and Rotary Sunrisers we can help needy families and projects going forward.
 
In addition to this full working schedule, the delegates will also get some free time to participate in La Virgendel Nancite festival, tour Managua's Masaya market and visit the Apoyo Lagoon. The International Service Committee has secured a $1,000 District grant to help offset some of the costs of travel. Going be a great trip!
