Foodbank of Santa Barbara County

For 14 years, Erik has led the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, which for two years running won Feeding America’s ‘Hunger’s Hope’ Award for the most innovative programming in the area of child nutrition. He is a founder of the SB County Food Action Plan, which seeks to use food to improve the physical and economic health of SB County. His TED talk addresses the opportunities of food literacy, and he recently wrote a successful children's book on hunger in the classroom, called 'Lulu and the Hunger Monster.'

Erik has a background as a writer and filmmaker and served as a principal in two production companies. His short film, ‘The Gallery,’ starring Helena Bonham Carter was selected for the London Film Festival. He has won an International Television Association Award for writing and directing educational drama and his theatrical work has been produced on the London Fringe.
